Prevent creating folder from NTFS permmison caused Word, Excel open read only

I tried to set NTFS permission to prevent user creates folders. I clear Create folders / append data from Advanced permissions.

I didn't realize it prevents append data as well. So user opens any files from the folder, it opens read-only mode and user must save it save as different file name.

So I set pure modify permission to the user without Special permissions.

Then I set deny permission for Creating folders / append data but applying only This folders and subfolders to the user. It won't be applied to files so that user can append data.

You can modify deny permissions to prevent your desired actions from this.
